Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day, all! What are some of your Valentine's Day traditions? For me and my family, it's eating pink or red food (red velvet cake, yum!), as well as giving small gifts and/or cards. With Valentine's Day being on a Wednesday this year, I  also have school (yay!), so I got to talk to some of my classmates about the holiday as well. It's very interesting to learn about other's perspectives on holidays. Happy Valentine's Day! -Lizzie

DIY Sock Bun

Obviously, the sock bun doesn't seem to be as popular as it used to be - but that doesn't stop me from wearing one! I think that it's a really versatile hairdo, and one that never gets old. You can do a half-up one, you could do a high one, low one, loose one, tight one, braided one, twisted one, messy one.... the options are nearly endless! However, a lot of people seem to think that the only way to make a sock bun is to go out and buy the sock bun form. While it's only a few dollars, you can save that money and create one yourself, while re-using an old sock! (Make sure to wash it first, though!) How to make a Sock Bun form: Materials needed: Old (clean) sock, scissors Instructions: Cut off the toe of your old yet clean sock. It's okay if there are a few holes in the rest of the sock, as the material will be rolled up to hid them. Starting at the top of the sock, roll the material over itself until you reach the hole at the bottom. It should simply begin

Audrey's Story - Chapter Two

I hope that you enjoyed the excerpt from my book that I posted a few days ago! Here is the second chapter from "Audrey's Story", by yours truly ;) This chapter was pretty short, and definitely not one of my best chapters. Critiques are welcomed! :D Chapter Two It hadn't always been like this. No, life had been easier before, Audrey though. If only people could understand how she felt; how she was treated. Audrey had already tried to phone the police about her situation, but her mother's landline had stopped working, and Audrey couldn't make the call. By the time that night had come, Audrey felt as if she could walk no further. Her legs ached from the constant dodging of rocks and the deep ruts in the road. Not only that, but her shoes were in a terrible condition that made traveling quite difficult. She still, however, could see no trace of an upcoming town. Audrey began to think that maybe the old man was trying to trick her into thinking that there

"Audrey's Story" - January's Novel

During the month of January, I wrote my very first novel.  Okay, it was only 16,000 words, so it wasn't quite  a novel. More like a short-story or Novelette.  My book is called "Audrey's Story". The synopsis for it is below!   Audrey is a young teen who was abused at home. She attempts running away as an answer to her problems - however, she soon realizes that running away won't solve everything. She needs to turn to Jesus. On her journey away from home, she meets a teen who had the same trouble that she did - his parents abused him and his younger sister. The boy (Luke) was able to escape with his sister (Lacey), and they were safe for a few years. Luke then decided that they were 'in the clear', and that they could start living more normally again. However, once he finds out that Audrey is travelling by herself, he realizes that he should go with her. There are a lot of dangerous things out there, and he wouldn't want her to get hurt just

DIY Semi-Formal Hairstyle

If you're anything like me (which, not many people are :P), figuring out how to do your hair for a dance is difficult. Up? Down? Half up? Braided? So many options! The hairdo below is one that I'm wearing to an upcoming Semi-Formal Ball. What you need: Brush Comb Jawclip (I'm using one in a color that matches my dress) Hairspray Curling Iron (Optional) Instructions: To begin, brush through your hair to get rid of any knots or tangles. Next, gently roll your hair with a large curling iron (Sorry, I don't know the size - it was my mom who was curling my hair :-) ). For me, a curling iron works best when it's just lightly curling my hair, and then it actually straightens it. After your hair has been curled, I like to brush through it to straighten it a bit more. For this, I use a small paddle brush, while for detangling, I use a brush that has bristles spread far apart from each other, which is best for detangling. Now, for the actual style! Separate a medium

I know that a
